Fundación Princesa de Asturias
One of this institution’s primary activities is organizing the Princesa de Asturias Awards, which acknowledge the scientific, technological, cultural, social and humanitarian achievements of individuals and institutions across the globe.
The 2025 awards ceremony took place on 24 October at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo.
Fundación Premios Rei Jaume I
This foundation awards prizes that recognize outstanding work in the fields of science and business in Spain. The winners receive a cash prize, which they must invest in Spanish research and entrepreneurial projects.
The awards ceremony, with HM the King of Spain presiding, took place at Valencia’s Lonja de los Mercaderes on 25 November.
Menéndez Pelayo International Award
This distinction was created by the Menéndez Pelayo International University to acknowledge outstanding individuals in literature or science whose work, written in Spanish or Portuguese, honours the erudite Cantabrian’s legacy.
The 36th Award was presented to the scholar and physicist José Manuel Sánchez Ron for his brilliant study of the history of science and its circulation in the general population.
Casa de América
The primary aim of this institution is to strengthen Spain’s ties with the Americas, particularly the Ibero-American nations. To this end, it organizes a wide range of cultural and scientific activities to familiarize Spanish audiences with the diverse realities of the American continents, inviting distinguished guests from both sides of the Atlantic.
Real Instituto Elcano
This research centre and think tank conducts strategic international studies, focusing especially on Spain's role in the world and, more specifically, its position in Europe. Its mission is to help formulate innovative, inclusive responses to global challenges and governance.
Asociación Cursos de La Granda
This association organizes courses that bring experts in different fields together every summer in Asturias to debate topics related to science, industry and culture. The 47th edition was held from 30 July to 29 August 2025 at the Hotel Palacio de Avilés.
Real Fundación de Toledo
This foundation is dedicated to the conservation, dissemination and study of the cultural heritage of the historic city of Toledo. To this end, it supports urban planning initiatives, the restoration of cultural assets, research projects, exhibitions, lectures and publications. The work of Toledo-born artists Victorio Macho and Rafael Canogar is also housed and exhibited at its headquarters.
Asociación Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo
In 2025, the Foundation partnered with this association to organize the first Miguel de la Quadra-Salcedo International Explorers Congress, held from 19 to 22 September. Participants in this event analysed how the educational experience devised by this globetrotting Spanish reporter influenced thousands of explorers over a forty-year period, and discussed how the next generations might be inspired.
Fundación Museo del Ejército
This foundation is responsible for preserving, exhibiting and promoting the historical heritage of the Spanish army museum (Museo del Ejército).
Thanks to the support of Fundación Banco Santander, in 2025 it was able to restore four flags, one guidon and one standard from the museum's textile collection, which will be displayed as part of its permanent exhibition.
Fundación ProCNIC
Fundación Banco Santander is an institutional patron of this foundation that supports the Spanish National Centre for Cardiovascular Research. It sponsors research, development and innovation programmes that benefit people with heart diseases and drive scientific progress in this field.
Fundación Renal Española
This non-profit organization provides holistic care for people with kidney disease and conducts related research projects. Thanks to the sponsorship of Fundación Banco Santander, it was able to create Nefrodiet, an app that helps patients follow a diet designed to slow the progress of chronic kidney disease.
Society of Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom SRUK/CERU
The Foundation partners with SRUK/CERU on Connects-UK, a project that aims to strengthen the community of European scientists in the United Kingdom, and on the CERU Emerging Talent Award, which recognizes the achievements of a young Spanish researcher working in the UK.
