José María Sánchez-Silva (Madrid, 1911-2002), made his name as a writer of works for children and young people. He received the National Literature Prize in 1957 and is the only Spaniard to have been awarded the Andersen Prize in 1968.
This anthology consists of three volumes. The first gathers a series of short stories with an introductory note written by the expert Emilio Pascual. The second is dedicated to stories for children and youth, including his famous Marcelino pan y vino (1952). The third is a selection of articles published throughout his fifty years in the profession, with a long bibliographical note by Enrique de Aguinaga.
José María Sánchez-Silva himself made the selection of the works that make up these three volumes, as well as writing the forewords to each of them.
