Letter from the Chairman

As is customary at this time of year, after reviewing our achievements in 2023, we turn our thoughts toward the future, in eager anticipation of continuing to work responsibly and earn society’s trust.

Bringing culture to people from every walk of life has always been one of the driving purposes of Fundación Banco Santander, and to this end we plan to continue our patronage of the arts and publish new volumes of literature, philosophy and history. Additionally, 2024 will witness the launch of a new collection of biographies of fascinating historical figures.

We will maintain our support for inclusive growth via the international cooperation programme Santander BEST Africa and other social welfare initiatives, like Santander Ayuda and Santander Emplea Cultura.

Our commitment to higher education and equal opportunity will lead us to step up our cooperation with some of the leading Spanish universities on training, employability and entrepreneurial programmes.

Designing the programme of activities at Faro Santander, the recreational and cultural venue that the bank plans to open at its former headquarters in the capital of Cantabria and which will house its art collection, will remain a top priority for us.

I am convinced that we will achieve these ambitious goals thanks to the unswerving support of Banco Santander, the wise guidance of the board of trustees and the reliability of our management team. I would like to thank all of them for their efforts and urge them to maintain a united front as they face a new set of challenges.

Rodrigo Echenique Gordillo
