Álvaro Cunqueiro (Mondoñedo, Lugo, 1911-Vigo, 1981), was a novelist, poet, playwright and journalist, as well as a translator. He was awarded the National Criticism Prize, 'Nadal' Prize, 'Frol da Agua' Prize and Galician Narrative Criticism Prize.

De santos y milagros is an anthology that compiles a wide and varied series of stories and articles never before published in a book, along with others unknown to critics and readers, such as the six unpublished stories that appeared between 1945 and 1946 in the magazine Catolicismo, discovered in 2011, and offered in this volume, becoming a treasure of magical realism in Spain.

Xosé Antonio López Silva, author of the anthology and the critical study that precedes it, is a Latinist, professor and researcher at the Instituto da Lingua Galega of the University of Santiago de Compostela. César Antonio Molina (A Coruña, 1952), writer, teacher, translator and former Minister of Culture, is responsible for the prologue included in this volume.
