La obra invitada

FROM 13 MAY TO 5 SEPTEMBER – 2021

Fundación Banco Santander sponsors the Guest Works programme, which allows the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum to exhibit important works of art from other museums or art collections. On this occasion, three excellent pieces that belonged to the collection of Doña Carmen Marañón, daughter of the famous doctor Gregorio Marañón and promoter of the foundation that bears her father's name, are on display for the first time.

These include San Francisco en éxtasis by El Greco, La venerable madre Jerónima de la Fuente by Velázquez, and Lazarillo de Tormes by Goya, all of which are highly unique works that complete the repertoire of the museum's collections. In addition, these three masterpieces are accompanied by Retrato de Dña Carmen Marañón painted by Ignacio Zuloaga in 1931.
