Letter from the Chairman
Antonio Escámez Torres
After nearly twelve years serving as chairman, I wanted this, my last letter in that capacity, to express how truly grateful I am to all those who have constantly supported and encouraged Fundación Banco Santander in its endeavours over the years.
Firstly, I want to thank the board of directors of Banco Santander and in particular its chairman, Ana Botín, who has supported our projects all this time and urged us to maintain the highest standards of excellence in everything we do.
I am also grateful to the foundation’s trustees for their constant commitment, contributions and valuable ideas, which have enriched and inspired us to improve day by day.
Finally, I would like to thank all the professionals who work at the foundation, led by managing director Borja Baselga, for their dedication and enthusiasm, reflected in the quality of the many programmes we have launched over the years in such a wide variety of fields, from the arts, music, history and literature to environmental work and social outreach.
Today the foundation is more committed than ever to serving society, and in the new era that is now beginning, I am confident it will continue to support innovative projects that promote the advancement of people and institutions.
I wish the new chairman, Rodrigo Echenique, every success as he takes the helm of this foundation, an institution with which he is already well acquainted, having served on its board of trustees and executive committee in recent years. His long experience at the bank, of which he is currently Executive Vice- President, will undoubtedly serve to further cement the cooperative ties between our two organisations.
