Annual Report 2020

Fundación Banco Santander sponsors the Escola Coral del Orfeó Català, an educational, artistic and social project that provides musical training for over 200 children and young people.

During the first quarter of 2020, the choirs from the Escola Coral participated in a variety of festivals and concert series. When the pandemic was declared, the remaining classes, rehearsals and concerts planned for the 2019-2020 season were cancelled or postponed. Nevertheless, the public were able to enjoy the choirs via the online platform Palau Digital, which offered recordings of past concerts and a virtual performance by the Cor Jove and the Cor de Noies, alongside the other choirs from the Palau and several British choir groups.

At the start of the 2020-2021 season, the Escola Coral resumed its activities, adopting the necessary safety measures to allow it to maintain its most important events. Among these was the traditional Concierto de San Esteban, which featured the Orfeó Català on stage with virtual participation from the Escola Coral and Cor de Cambra choirs.
