Project developed in collaboration with WWF Spain. Since 2006, this unique space has been recovering from the effects of the forest fire it suffered.
The fire devastated nearly 13,000 hectares of forest land in the Rodenal region of Alcarria, of which over 5,000 hectares belonged to the protected area of the Alto Tajo Natural Park. This is the case of the Barranco del Hocino, a gorge dug out of the limestone, which was home to a magnificent mixed forest. The fire burnt the bases of all the existing species, with only one yew tree being saved from the impact of the flames.
