Conexiones 17. Guillermo Peñalver. Autorretrato en interior

FROM JUNE 26 TO OCTOBER 08 – 2019

Conexiones is a project that we have developed together with the ABC Museum to support the artistic production of Spanish creators linked to the world of drawing. Under the curatorship of Óscar Alonso Molina, and based on two pieces from the collections of both institutions, the selected artists develop a body of work that is later shown at the exhibition halls of the ABC Museum.

Autorretrato en interior is the title of the exhibition presenting the work of Guillermo Peñalver (Tarragona, 1982), the artist selected for the 17th edition of Conexiones. As a starting point, Peñalver has selected the work of Julio Le Parc, Modulación nº 66 (1976) from the Banco Santander Collection, whose movement and bichromy inspire him in several of his collages. He has also chosen three illustrations from the ABC Collection that connect with his personality: El niño y el escaparate (1924) by Ángel Díaz Huertas; El hombre mañoso (1932) by Antonio Barbero and Brígida y su boda (1929) by Emilio Ferrer. The result is an exquisite exhibition in which Peñalver, through collage and drawing, constructs images of his most reserved physical and mental spaces.
