All the World’s a Stage. Works from the Goetz Collection

Santander Art Gallery

FROM FEBRUARY 21 TO JUNE 14 - 2015

All the World's a Stage. Works from the Goetz Collection is part of the series of exhibitions on contemporary art that we organise at the Art Gallery of the Grupo Santander City. On this occasion, the exhibition includes a selection of pieces from the most important contemporary art collection in Germany, the Sammlung Goetz.

The theme that serves as a leitmotif for the selection of works carried out by the curator Karsten Löckemann is theatre. Hence, the title of the exhibition All the World's a Stage. Works from the Goetz Collection, is taken from a famous quote from William Shakespeare's As you like it (1599). It presents 93 pieces that refer to the theatre and the stage via different artistic media, by 27 important artists including renowned figures such as Janet Cardiff, Elmgreen &D ragset, Jeff Wall, Ulrike Ottinger, Candice Breitz, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Candida Höfer, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Hans Op de Beeck, Michael Kunze, and Laurie Simmons, among others.
